Las Vegas - It was an extraordinary '70s chart run that produced classics such as Shining Star, Fantasy, September, Reasons and That's the Way of the World. The music of Earth, Wind & Fire has an engaging yet otherworldly sense about it that makes it seem unlike any musical group that had come before it. Now EWF is set to unleash its funky sounds again at the Paris Theatre des Arts on January 19 - 22 at 9:00 p.m. nightly. Earth, Wind & Fire is known for its fusion of American pop and African rhythms, and the melding of rock, jazz, funk and Latin-tinged R&B that brings the group a truly integrated following - a level of crossover appeal that is rare in pop music today.

"What we did was bridge a gap between rock and soul like few had ever done before, " said singer Philip Bailey. "It really was a fusion of all the elements. Songs like After the Love Is Gone and Sing-a-song, it's just a legacy that we've created."

Testifying to their enduring popularity are 50 gold and platinum albums, six Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards and a 1993 NAACP Hall of Fame Image Award. Singles from platinum '70s albums "Mighty, Mighty Devotion" and "Open Our Eyes" helped to identify the group as "up" entertainers with a positive mission.

Despite the absence of co-founder Maurice White (due to his diagnosis of Parkinson's disease 9 years ago), remaining co-founders Philip Bailey, Verdine White and Ralph Johnson have surrounded themselves with an array of dazzling musicians and dancers fully capable of delivering the EWF goods. The special effects and superhero-inspired stage garb of yesteryear has given way to a straight-up funk-and-soul revue, and the band never misses a beat.

Year after year, tour after tour, concert venues worldwide are packed with fans that converge upon Earth, Wind & Fire shows. The warm feeling that permeate the celebrity concert extravaganzas exude from both the band and the audience and have forged a lasting bond. VH1 and HBO both have aired concert performances over the last few years as EWF remains as strong today as they did nearly 30 years ago.
