New Collection of Children's Books

The Lillard Group, Inc. proudly announces the release of the Lizard Tales Collection, a series of children's books which emphasizes the importance of reading and music in the brain development of children everywhere.

The Lizard Tales Collection includes three full-color children's pictorial books: DandiLion, Close Your Eyes, and Swamp Snobs. Each book, written and illustrated by Elizabeth Lillard, includes beautiful watercolor illustrations, a full-length music CD, sheet music, art for framing, stickers, bookmarks, and Lizard Tales Club membership information for children. Audiocassette tapes complete with each book's song, narration, and instrumental music are currently under development.

The books were developed to promote the idea that being read to by parents, grandparents, and caregivers and listening to music can make a difference in the development of children ages ZERO to EIGHT.

Numerous scientific studies and literacy groups have documented the developmental benefits of reading to and with young children. Additionally, new scientific studies have shown that early musical training shapes children's growing brains and development of logic, abstract thinking, memory, and creativity.

The stories and music of the Lizard Tales Collection were created to help children and their families discover and share these wonderful activities - reading and enjoying music.

Additionally, each book contains a message designed to help the child Develop his or her ability to cope with present and future issues:

Close Your Eyes is a beautiful lullaby that teaches the importance of rest and renewal while providing words of love and security to your child.
Swamp Snobs shows that true friendship is to be nurtured and valued while preparing your child for the challenges of peer pressure.

The author and illustrator, Elizabeth Lillard, is a native of Houston, Texas and currently resides near the beach of Northwest Florida's Coast. Her motivation in developing the Lizard Tales Collection was to bring parent and child together for special quiet times.

Liz believes her work can help parents and children enjoy the good times and cope with the difficult ones during a child's formative years. It is her hope that the exercise of reading will help children prepare for their futures in the competitive world of school and career.

The characters and stories of the Lizard Tales Collection come to life through the musical talents of Gary Powell and Powell Studio Productions. Powell brings 20 years of experience in recording full orchestra, children's music, rock and roll, and original scoring for video and film to the composition, arrangement, and production of the music CD for the Lizard Tales Collection.

Powell, of Austin, Texas, has done the original scoring, songwriting, arranging, producing, and recording for Walt Disney's storybook and song albums including: "The Little Mermaid," "Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King," "Pocahontas," and "Toy Story." He is a three time Gold Record recipient and a winner of the Parent's Choice Gold Medal.
