| TIRED MUSCLES, SPIRITS, MELT A WAY AT FLAMINGO |
|
4/25/2000 April 25, 2000 There are health clubs. There are spas. Then there's The Spa at the Flamingo.
Just those five words say it all. Round, roomy tubs of hot, bubbling water against a backdrop of aqua tiles and etched glass. Tired, cramped muscles unknotted by the magic manipulation of a Swedish massage. Soothing aloe for those tender spots left too long in the desert sun.
It's all at the Flamingo. The Spa at the Flamingo has been redesigned and remodeled to accommodate those who want a good workout... those who want a good workout AND a reward afterward-and those who just plain want to be pampered a little bit.
Located in the southeast corner of the resort, the glass doors of the Spa at the Flamingo open onto nearly 2,400 square feet of workout room, with state-of-the-art equipment, including the popular Free Runner that users say makes them feel like they're skiing in mid-air. In fact, Spa Manager Moshe Rosenblum said that some of the Hoist brand machines in the spacious co-ed workout room are prototypes --- including the Glute Master, the Seated Leg Curl, the Abdominal Crunch and the Abdominal Bench.
"There are many health clubs and spas in Las Vegas," said Rosenblum as he stood on the gray/green carpet and looked around the mirrored room where customers can listen to quiet music or catch up on news and sports on one of the room's mounted television sets.
"But we are truly unique. Not only do we have these exclusive machines that work virtually every part of the body. We also have spa tubs in three temperatures-hot, warm, and cold-but we also offer a wet sauna, without the steam.'
Frankly, Rosenblum added, "I don't know of any other facility in the city quite like ours.'
The equipment takes up nearly the entire floor. There are seven TreadMills, four Press Benches, six Free Climbers, 15 individual machines, six Stationary Bicycles, and the one Free Runner-something, surely, for everyone.
But the co-ed workout room of The Spa at the Flamingo is just the beginning. There are other facilities for men and women which, though private, mirror each other in amenities and also reflect the Flamingo's abiding concern for the customer's comfort.
Inside both rooms, quiet music sets the tone for a spa that is the ultimate in luxury. Along with the three jacuzzis, there are also tanning beds, wet & dry sauna rooms, a Eucalyptus Steam Room, showers, safety deposit boxes, lockers, sandals, towers, mineral water, fruit and juices.
There are also other amenities that you might take for granted at home, but wouldn't always expect in a spa-magnifying mirrors, mouthwash, hair spray and mousse, deodorant, lotions and creams, baby powder, rubber bands and hair clips, blow dryers and curling irons, Q-tips, plastic razors-even a case for to safeguard eyeglasses.
A one-day visit to the Spa, which includes use of the equipment and facilities, along with mineral water, fruit, and juices, is $20. A three-day visit is $50. Three days' use of the facilities, along with a half-hour massage, is $80.
Without the package, a half-hour massage-described as a "classic European massage"-is $50; an hour is $80. A "salt glow'-exfoliation with a combination of salts and gels is $30, and includes use of the spa facilities.
The Spa at the Flamingo is open daily 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the steam room, sauna and spas closing at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 733-3535. |
