| COMEDY VETERAN TO HEADLINE RIVIERA COMEDY CLUB, JAN 7 - 13 |
|
12/21/2001 December 21, 2001 You'll get a chance to meet Mickey Manners, when he returns to the award-winning Riviera Comedy Club in one of his infrequent Las Vegas appearances, beginning Monday, January 7, for seven hilarious evenings.
The New York-born comic/actor was encouraged by comedy legend Milton Berle to develop his own variety act. Manners invokes laughter without resorting to anything off-color and this has advanced his reputation. The high standard he sets as a clean comedian is reflected in comments wherever he appears.
Besides touring with Berle in the East Coast tour of "Top Banana," Manners was able to amass movie television credits a mile long. His first television network show was CBS' "Stump The Stars," where he was a regular panelist for 16 years. As a guest star, TV appearances included "Get Smart," "Lost In Space," "Hogan's Heroes," "The Lucy Show," "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman," "Murphy Brown," and "Silk Stalkings" among many, many more. He starred in the CBS sitcom, "Many Happy Returns."
Manners appeared on "The Tonight Show," both with Johnny Carson and Jack Paar. He was also a frequent visitor on shows hosted by Steve Allen, Merv Griffin and Joey Bishop.
His film credits include two Jerry Lewis pictures, "The Nutty Professor" and "Which Way To The Front?" But with all the acting credits, it was Manner's spots on TV game shows (like "Stump The Stars") that got him recognized most often. He became a "professional panelist" on the original "Hollywood Squares," "PDQ," "Celebrity Sweepstakes" and "Rhyme And Reason."
These days Manners concentrates on cruise ships where he pursues his first love - a live audience. A resident of Palm Desert, California, Manners is an avid golfer and tennis player.
Appearing with Mickey Manners will be comics Jerry Miner and John Adams.
Jerry Miner's repertoire includes singing, juggling and impressions. A Riviera Comedy Club regular, he was a featured performer in HBO's "Stop With The Kicking" and NBC's "Sports and Comedy." His comedic writing talents have been sought after by Jay Leno, Kevin Pollack, Bruce Baum and Rich Hall, among others.
A real "son of a preacher man," John Adams moved to L.A. three years ago to pursue a stand-up career. His material ponders questions such as "what would it be like to be born normal and healthy in a handicapped world" and "what about racism as it applies to the animal kingdom?" An up and coming talent, Adams can currently be seen in an AT&T commercial with David Arquette.
Show times for the Riviera Comedy Club are 8 and 10 p.m. Tickets are $17.95 plus tax and fee. VIP seating is available. Ask about the special dinner/show combos. For more information call the Riviera Box Office at (702) 794-9433, or click on www.theriviera.com. |
