| Treasure Island Premieres The Sirens Of TI |
10/25/2003 LAS VEGAS, October 25, 2003 � In celebration of its 10th anniversary, Treasure Island Las Vegas tonight set sail with the maiden voyage of its new pirate battle production, The Sirens of TI. More than 1000 invited guests were on hand for the world premiere of the show, which features a clash between a group of beautiful, tempting sirens and a band of renegade pirates. Guests were awed by the music, dance, excitement and seduction in this modern musical-meets-action-movie spectacular. With the new battle, we have created a show that leaves everyone wanting more and finding it within our resort.� Just a few months ago, TI closed its popular Battle of Buccaneer Bay to make way for the updated, sexier new show. The Battle of Buccaneer Bay debuted on October 26, 1993 when Treasure Island opened. The nearly 10-year run and 16,334 performances played to an estimated 35 million people. To recreate the entertainment extravaganza, TI's President Scott Sibella teamed up with Emmy-Award winning director and choreographer Kenny Ortega. In the hands of Mr. Ortega, the show was given a fresh new storyline and set to music scored by award-winning record producer and songwriter Emilio Estefan. The new show is the latest in many changes to the resort. The famous skull and crossed-swords marquee is gone, replaced with a modern marquee featuring the new TI logo and state-of-the-art technology. The resort's outer walls have shed the lighter coral color for a deeper-toned terra cotta hue. Next year will bring a Mexican restaurant by renowned restaurateur Richard Sandoval, a redesigned buffet and an expansion of TI's Canter's Deli � the LA icon. Also in 2004, a pedestrian bridge will connect TI to one of the country's best malls, the Fashion Show, featuring such high-end anchor stores as Bloomingdale's Home Store, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. Free performances of The Sirens of TI are nightly at 6:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. in Sirens' Cove at the front of Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, with VIP viewing for hotel guests.
