Dynamic Celebrity Chefs Bring Culinary Talents to Rio with Grand Opening Friday

LAS VEGAS, NEV. - In the first of a series of five new food and beverage outlets to be added to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Rosemary's At the Rio will officially open to the public Friday, September 6, 2002. Rosemary's, a Las Vegas local favorite serving American cuisine with a French influence, is opening its second location within the space previously known as Napa Restaurant, within the Rio's Masquerade Village. Award-winning chefs Wendy and Michael Jordan have developed a special menu based on the freshest, locally grown ingredients available, cooked in a simple, yet unpredictably creative style with bold flavors and rich regional elements.

The restaurant's mission is to provide the finest quality food, a wide selection of wines, personalized service and a heightened level of hospitality to their customers. "Our local following has grown phenomenally in a short period of time," said Chef Michael Jordan. "We feel that the Rio is the perfect second location for Rosemary's ... it is a unique fit that encompasses style, theme and customer base."

The Jordans have retained many of their most popular menu items, yet have added a diverse assortment of new dishes, only available at the Rio. Guests will enjoy the trademark starter, Hugo's Texas BBQ Shrimp, made with Maytag blue cheese coleslaw and shaved green onions, along with several delicious pizzas, Southern crab cakes and green curry Manila clams.

Among the tempting entrees are wood oven roasted rack of lamb, pan seared sea scallops, Maine lobster brochettes and New York Strip au poivre. Sides include roasted fingerling potatoes, black olive creamed potatoes, southern style succotash and garlic spinach.

A host of delectable salads and soups are available, as well as an extensive dessert and wine list.

The 6,000-square-foot restaurant comfortably seats 200 guests, and features a "Chefs Table" in the kitchen. Kitchen showcase seating is also available, lending additional dining intimacy to the warm, inviting setting which is all at once light, sexy, innovative and traditional. Light colored woods, warm coloring, rich carpets and walls adorned with the works of local artist, Wendy Kveck, are the key to a balanced, comfortable, yet elegant dining experience.

The Jordans are featured chefs in the upcoming James Beard Foundation Dinner held in New York on October 7, 2002. Both the Jordans and their restaurant have been honored with numerous awards, from such publications as Bon Appetit, Food & Wine Magazine, Zagat and the New York Times. They have been voted "Best Gourmet Restaurant" in Las Vegas, by the Las Vegas Review-Journal three years in a row.
