HARRAH'S TO LAUNCH LAS VEGAS' FIRST NEW SHOW OF THE MILLENNIUM

LAS VEGAS, NEV. -Harrah's Las Vegas Casino & Hotel will launch Las Vegas' first new show of the millennium on January 14, 2000. Only two headliners have received four-star status in Las Vegas (as rated by the city's largest newspaper, the Review-Journal), and Clint Holmes will be the first to star on the famed Las Vegas Strip, a major millennium milestone.

"Takin' It Uptown," starring Clint Holmes will be performed in Harrah's main showroom at 7:30 and 10 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and at 9 p.m. only on Wednesday and Friday. Tickets will be $44.95 plus tax each and available at Harrah's Box Office.

The show will be a uniquely composed blend of vocal style, improvisation and excitement. No other show in Las Vegas will offer the fresh, one-of-a-kind experience "Takin' it Uptown" promises with Holmes at the helm of a hand-selected 12-piece band, including a five-piece horn section.

Holmes will bring to his first Strip headlining gig a totally new and different approach, similar to a live concert where no two shows are alike. Celebrities in the audience will be invited to the stage, joining Holmes for a taste of that sweet anticipation Las Vegas enjoyed in its high times. The city's hottest and most amazing band will lead Clint down a road untraveled in the show as only great musicians can ... leaving audiences breathless and wanting more.

Holmes' set-list includes tunes that are far from standard Las Vegas show fare. Known for setecting songs everyone knows and loves, but hasn't heard lately, Holmes mixes classics with today's ground breakin hits. Both Holmes and musical director Bill Fayne utilize their innate talents to create original works of art with their own unique arrangements.

"I want audiences to get a feel for who I am, what I'm passionate about and what I believe in," Holmes said.

Holmes spins a modern tale of life through a series of stunning song and dance sequences, creating a show that is completely original in concept. Holmes lends his warm, comedic touch to a series of musical vignettes that are all at once moving and upbeat, funny and poignant.

"Audiences will feel more that they are among a cozy, intimate group of friends, rather than in a showroom," Holmes said.

The show will also feature some intriguing highlights: Special duets featuring Holmes and the beautiful, exotic and talented Shonica Roland; a "breaking talent" segment featuring some of the industry's up-and-coming new faces; and mesmerizing acoustic sets that turn into impromptu jam sessions, creating a fresh, exciting and varied show each night.

Holmes has more than 20 years of performing to his credit: He served as Joan Rivers' sidekick and announcer on "The Late Show," as the musical feature and event correspondent for "Entertainment Tonight' and as the host of his own Emmy-award-winning talk/variety show. He has recently written and produced a play called "Comfortable Shoes," which met with incredible acclaim at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Milburn, N.J.

His live musical selections range from contemporary to classic with jazz and samba thrown into the mix. His warm, comfortable sound, coupled with his infectious stage charisma, meet with rave reviews wherever he performs. Clint Holmes is sure to become a must-see Las Vegas experience.
