"Oh, what A Night" it will be indeed at the Flamingo Las Veqas on Friday, June 2, when Pittmobile Entertainment Inc. presents a true legend--The Dells---in concert.

And you can bet that "Oh, What A Night"-their first million-seller and a song that helped define the rock-and-roll era back in 1956-will be on the hit list when they perform at 9 p.m. in the Flamingo Showroom.

Marvin junior, Johnnie Carter, Charles Barksdale, Michael McGill and Verne Allison--who began their career while still attending high school in Illinois in 1953 ---- recorded no less than 44 R&B hits during their 47 years in the business, including "Stay In My Corner" and "Give Your Baby A Standing Ovation,"

Another performer that night likely to garner a standing ovation is the new sweetheart of Volt Records, Angel Sessions, whose soaring mezzo-soprano floored R&B songwriter-producer Fred Pittman the moment he heard it.

When I saw her sing live, I realized how good this girl is," he says. "That's when I got hooked. She's one of the rare great ones you find..."

The Dells and Angel Sessions. It can't get much better for R&B fans when these icons of R&B and this skyrocketing young star-every bit as beautiful as that sweetly soaring voice --- come together on stage at the Flamingo Las Vegas. Not only will The Dells sing again their greatest hits, they will also introduce their new Volt Records album, "Reminiscing."

Recipients of The Rhythm and Blues Foundation's "Pioneer Award' and the 14th annual NAACPs "Image Award," The Dells' one-of-a-kind harmonies were first created by the late Kirk Stewart and later fine-tuned by Quincy Jones, who showcased their talent on Dinah Washington's Mercury Records album, "Tears and Laughter."

In 1967, the group teamed up with writer/producer Bobby Mills and arranger Charles Stepney. The union resulted in seven gold singles, three gold albums, and 25 "Top 40" hits. But they gained new fans when movie producer Robert Townsend wrote the screenplay for "The Five Heartbeats," based on the tumultuous lives and careers of The Dells.

In fact, the movie introduced The Dells to a whole other generation and produced a hit from the soundtrack, 'A Heart Is a House for Love."

Today they are a part of the newly activated Volt label, a part of the Stax Records Group distributed by Fantasy Records.

Rising star Angel Sessions knew she wanted to be a singer the day she brought the house down at a talent show in her native Louisville, Kentucky, with a rendition of the Natalie Cole hit, "Our Love."

She was six-years-old at the time.

Today she is equally at home with gospel and popular music and is looking forward to the success of her debut Volt album, "Love Ride."

'I love sharing my gift," she says. "I just want people to buy the album and let it do the talking. I think it speaks for itself'

The Dells and Angel Sessions perform only once --at 9p.m.-- Friday, June 2, in the Flaminngo Showroom. Tickets are only $45.50, plus tax.

Following The Dells and Angel Sessions into this summer of R&B at the Flamingo on the following Friday, June 9, will be The Deffonics ... who bring romance back to music with their debut CD for Volt Records, "Forever New"... and Brenda Holloway, celebrating her triumphant return to R&B after a 33-year absence with "It's A Woman's World."
