Cirque du Soleil Celebrates 10 Years in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - In December 1993, Cirque du Soleil planted a flower in the desert. Myst?reｮ, its first resident show presented in a custom-built theatre at Treasure Island, was to bloom with vigor and beauty. It has since become a favorite of the locals and the press worldwide. Myst?re has been credited with changing the face of entertainment in Las Vegas, in fact, bringing it to a whole new level. Ten years later, Mysture is still the cornerstone for Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. The production is as strong and powerful as ever and continues to wow audiences night after night.

The success of Mysture led to the opening of a second Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas in October 1998; 徹ｮ�, the enigmatic and awe-inspiring aquatic production at Bellagio. This was no small endeavor, as the 15,000 square foot stage can be transformed from a dry platform into a pool filled with 1.5 million gallons of water in a matter of seconds. The 85 performers that make 徹� come to life present jaw-dropping acts above, on and in the water.

Once again Cirque du Soleil took Las Vegas by storm with ZUMANITY�, ANOTHER SIDE OF CIRQUE DU SOLEIL� at New York-New York Hotel & Casino. The production, which sails into the uncharted waters of eroticism and sensuality, premiered officially in September of 2003. ZUMANITY has gathered much attention and critical acclaim, and has allowed Cirque du Soleil to explore a new realm of its creativity.

Cirque du Soleil has presented more than 7200 performances in Las Vegas to nearly 10 million spectators. The three resident shows play to sold out audiences 10 times a week. Featuring 210 performers from over 30 countries around the world, not to mention 400 crew and support staff members, everyone at Cirque du Soleil is very proud to call Las Vegas home and to contribute to the vitality of the city.

Cirque du Soleil's presence in Las Vegas has become more prominent as the company inaugurated its new headquarters in July 2002. The offices, located at 980 Kelly Johnson Drive, host 75 employees from Finance, Human Resources, Marketing and Public Relations, Information Technologies and General Management.

As a responsible corporate citizen, Cirque du Soleil encourages local artists by displaying their works of art throughout the office, as well as the production offices at the different Cirque du Soleil theatres. In addition, the company supports the cause of youth at risk by participating and organizing various events such as the annual 迭un away with Cirque du Soleil� 5K run and 1 mile fun walk, benefiting local charities as well as Cirque du Monde, which uses the circus arts as a means to reach out to youth at risk. Cirque du Soleil's involvement in the community is of great importance to the founders and employees, as the company began as a small group of street performers.
